Minimizing Error in Life

Minimizing error in my life

How?

By minimizing error, I can return better results

What kind of error?
- Error in understanding / comprehension / learning / investing

Not only minimize error but also minimize risk / chance / probability

Maximizing the use of my time

Forming and maintaining relationships (family, friends, work)

At work

The type of work I chose / jobs I choose

Reducing and Minimizing Error in Life

Reducing Error (in life)
What does this mean??

Factors
Memory
Probability
Chance

All things can be controlled, but each has its own level of difficulty to control

What does this mean?
Being more efficient, productive

Reducing error in the work you do on the job, reducing error in the schoolwork you do, reducing error in the decisions you make

Everyone chooses their own life path.

Your life path is affected by your surrounding environment.
You could be positioned in two different locations.
Either one you may find a mate to marry. Therefore, the mate you marry depends on your location.

Reducing error in Life (In and Out of the Workplace)

Bottom line: in order to lead a more efficient life, error must be reduced.

Sometimes you may take all the precautions you can think of, and you still get exploited.

Your goals may conflict with the goals of others. This may result in conflict for you and loss of efficiency.

Reducing error. How? In life?

Examples, you lose keys, warning lights come on in your car, you are late to school, you have trouble learning course material, you have trouble getting everything done on time, you miss an error in a mechanical drawing for work.

These are all examples of errors in life. And they must all be corrected.

Things tend to disorder around you. It is your goal to maintain order in your life.

The most important thing is to correct issues before they become problems.

With time, comes wear.

Let’s examine some problems.

You lost your keys. What could you have done to prevent?
   • Always keep keys in secure place within bookbag
   • Never let bookbag out of sight.
   • Or keep keys in pocket.
   • Bottom line – always make sure keys are in your presence, then you won’t lose keys

Late to school
   • Leave earlier

The thing is I am stating solutions to correct problems that already occurred.

In reducing error, the goal is to improve life behaviors so that problems do not occur in the first place. I mean for example an error on a mechanical drawing, I could state what to do to fix the problem after it has already occurred, but the goal is to prevent problems from occurring in the first place.

How do you do this?

As I stated, sometimes you can take all the precautionary measures you can think of to prevent the occurrence of a problem, yet it can still occur.

The more you do a certain action, then the greater the probability a problem associated with that action will occur. We could rank problems on their level of disruption.

Typically, people do their best to live their lives so that error will not occur.

You can learn from the experiences of others or from your own personal experiences. Either way, you learn from experience. But it is more beneficial to the individual to learn from others experiences, even though it does not always work out that way.

Some problems are apparent like losing your keys. Meaning: yes, I am aware that I can lose my keys, it can happen.

I mean, often times young people will hear elders say for example, “don’t drink” or “don’t smoke, it isn’t good for you.” But teenagers / young people will go ahead and do it anyway. It is an instance where they could learn from the experiences of others but end up learning from their own experience instead, whether from a car crash, or lung cancer, or whatever else. Learning from personal experience is obviously much harder on an individual, for obvious reasons.

But something like losing your car keys, how do you learn that from experience? I mean someone can say, “don’t lose your car keys, I did and someone stole my car,” or something. So what does that do for you though?

I mean when someone says don’t drink or don’t smoke, you simply refrain from the action. But if someone were to say, don’t lose your car keys, you do not prevent that error by refraining from an action.

Perhaps a large part of reducing error, is to be conscious of your actions, be aware of what you are doing. For example, I leave my keys in my bookbag and leave my bookbag with a fellow student with whom I do not know that well while I go out for a few minutes, you must think about what you are doing.

Think about probability, but also think about the effect of a problem, were it to occur, cause and effect. Maybe the probability of a fellow classmate taking keys is small, but the effect of doing so would be large.

To reduce error, always think about what COULD happen. Then assess the probability of an event occurring and the impact of that event, were it to occur. Then decide how to reduce the probability of the occurrence of those problems.

Obviously, one does not want to live life being paranoid, but one also should not live life being too carefree.

Part of the problem in the solution just above, is that there is an infinite number of problems that can occur throughout life.

Therefore, you should try your hardest to discover the problems that have the greatest probability of occurring and the problems that would result in the largest disruption of your life.

Even with the application of this methodology, there will always be problems that will be almost impossible to have foreseen.

Reducing error

A significant factor contributing towards efficiency increase is reduction of error. But, reduction of error alone does not mean production will increase. A major priority is to reduce error as much as possible

Improving Mental Abilities Through Mental Stimulation

I was given a schedule as to when I was to come in to work on a given day. The day before I checked the schedule to see when I worked the next day so I knew. But when the next day came, somehow the thought in my brain was that I was to come in at 5:00 when actually it was supposed to be earlier. Now I don't know how that happened. You operate and make decisions off of this thinking machine, but sometimes I feel like it makes involuntary changes. Now if I got up early enough and looked at my schedule I would know that I come in at 12:00 or if I thought of the time over and over again in my head. I feel like when your brain is not stimulated in the right ways your brain's capabilities start to depreciate. I feel like one needs to be engaged in certain activities for certain periods of time each day in order for one to maximize one's thinking capability. Things I believe that would drastically improve one's thinking ability are as follows: social interaction with several types of personalities, solving problems as a team, an intimate relationship with someone,

If you place yourself in specific environments for prolonged periods of time, your thought patterns will change based on the environment. For example, if you spend much time playing music, your thought patterns will change based on that. If you spend much time in environment isolated from others, you will lose your communicative ability but also your thinking will be affected. Basically the types of environments you choose to be in will tend to influence the way you think. But, the challenge lies in learning to not let your environments influence your thought patterns.

Hypothesis: one can reorient one’s thinking patterns by choosing to do various things such as immersing oneself in technical and mathematical material in effort to stimulate the brain, etc…
